First thoughts
Apr. 9th, 2025 01:32 amI don't think I've used an online journal like this since I used LJ in middle and high school. There I am, already dating myself. Though, I don't suspect Dreamwidth is exactly full of young kids. (If you are: hi, this is what the internet used to look like!)
Rumors are circulating about Tumblr dying, but when isn't that happening? I've tried different social media sites, but they never click right in my head. FB is a barren wasteland of AI art and nightmares. Twitter has a design I just do not understand. The Fediverse was kind of cool, but I had trouble finding other people with my interests, it was mostly tech folks. Despite using Linux, I'm not much of a computer person (at least compared to the computer engineers in my life, so my perspective is skewed). Discord is nice for talking to people I already know, but big servers just give me anxiety. A lot of things run way too fast for me, including pretty much all social media.
I'm curious to get back into online journaling. I have no idea what I'm going to put on here. I have a lot of downtime at work, so I have plenty of time to write. Maybe I'll back up all my TTRPG writing on here. Maybe I'll write out thoughts about the paranormal and conspiracy videos I watch at work during the aforementioned downtime. It's strange to me to come back to a setting like this and think, "I don't know what I'll do with this space online that's entirely mine."
I'll write up a proper introduction later on, probably later tonight.
